Christmas
time has come and gone,
I don’t know where it went.
I bought a stack of Christmas cards,
But I didn’t get them sent.
My friends were much more thoughtful,
With cards they did embue,
A wish of Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year too.
Some cards were oh so touching;
Families gathered round the table
With sleds and snow and reindeer,
Baby Jesus in the stable.
Oh…enclosed there is a letter
About things they hold so dear;
Accomplishments they’ve made
Throughout the previous year.
They tell of little Johnny,
The time he got an A;
And how his little sister
Brightened up their every day.
How they traveled round the world
And visited far places.
The restaurants they frequented
That brought joy to all their faces.
And William got a great big raise,
He’s president of sales,
Mary got hooked up with Green Peace,
Now she’s off to save the whales.
Well, if they’re all so freakin’ happy,
They can just be glad I know ‘em.
I’ll save another stamp next year,
All they’ll get’s this lousy poem!
